THURSDAY, APRIL 09, 2009 - CAN NOT STAND THE ECHO!!

THAT NICE (TRUTHFULLY, ONERY OLD COOT) MAILMAN CAME UP TO DOOR AGAIN TODAY!!

AND, I GOT THE NEW "JACK IN THE PATCH" BY CHERRY WOOD DESIGN STUDIOS!! THIS IS TRULY A DANDY, WITH 30 DIFFERENT SQUARES, EACH STITCHED IN A DIFFERENT STITCH IN ADDITION TO SURROUNDING BORDER. IT IS CHARTED FOR BOTH A "BOX" AND A "FOB"!! UMMMMMMM!! MAYBE, ONE BLOCK PER MONTH, WITH SEVERAL "FROG" INVASIONS EXTENDING IT!! HOPE THEY ARE STILL CELEBRATING HALLOWEEN!! AND THIS IS ANOTHER DESIGNER WHO LIVES IN IOWA!!
THIS IS "SPRING DESIGN" BY BOBBIE G. DESIGNS!! GOT TO START HEARING ABOUT THESE CHARTS BEFORE I JUST "JUMP OVER THE EDGE"!! THERE ARE 46 DMC COLORS WITH 6 DIFFERENT BLENDED THREADS, MORE BACKSTITCHING THAN I HAVE SEEN IN QUITE AWHILE, MANY HALF STITCHES, AND SEVERAL FRENCH KNOTS MANY OF WHICH IT WILL BE LAST MINUTE DECISION IF I CAN USE BEADS OR NOT FOR THEM!!
AND, I GOT "MAKE-UP!" BY THE SUNFLOWER SEED!! I TRULY CAN RELATE TO THIS ONE AND SO BADLY WOULD LIKE TO GET IT STITCHED UP AND HUNG IN MY BATHROOM TO REMIND ME TO DECIDE IF I "REALLY" WANT THAT EVEN SIMPLE BLUSH AND MASCARA!! APPEARS TO BE EASY 7 GENTLE ARTS SAMPLER THREADS AND 3 PLAIN DMC THREADS!! AND, for the entire rest of this day, I pretty much sat in my chair!! I think I have had a total of two hours sleep Tuesday and last night!! Into my mind just not shutting off to even let me rest since "our" encounter with our Veterans Administration!! But, there is absolutely nothing I can do about those matters and they need to quiet their selves very soon!!
In the silence of my just sitting, my (or, I should say Kathy's from Ca.) Victorian Doll's House has finally won a very short and slow start!! That is as soon as I can stay awake to make sure I am placing it most correctly on the fabric!! Going to put in on plain white 28-Count Cashel Linen!! Got very large piece, just for "safety in errors"!! Kathy was kind enough to give me a few tips regarding how her piece is progressing!! And, some thing I am sure I would never considered, in she advised me to buy lots of the brown color threads!!
I am allowing things to get very uncontrollable right now!! I am to the point of having gotten out my timer and will be rotating a few times each day and evening. Off hand, I can say that I am absolutely going to continue my "Stitcher Traveling" Set, continue onward with my BIG secret project, about six Biscornus, and what ever else I manage to pick up in the ever growing WIPS pile!! I swear that pile is taking on a "life" of it's own!! And, now the Victorian Doll's House is in the process of getting a "building permit"!!
Mi is still very scared of the new deck and ramp!! She wants no part of stepping out on it, nor is she going to cross it yet!! Mi can not walk on tile of any kind as she has never really been around any thing, but carpet. I wonder if she thinks this wood is going to be like her encounter with tile once!! We will continue to try and "bribe" her to come outside with us!!
Max is having very severe problems with his blood pressure dropping WAY too low for extended time periods, especially after dialysis!! I am very much praying we are not about to encounter a dejavue with it!! He is also eating about 2 bites of each meal, and some times a whole 5-6 bites if I begin to hassle and joke with him about it!! He has constant diarrhea!!
Nothing seems to help!! I try to suggest another bottle of "Ensure" each time I cross paths with him here. He is beginning to loose the weight again!! I worked so hard to get some weight back on him beginning about three months ago and was quite successful as he was only a 96-pound human skeleton then!! I truly do not want to see any more lost weight as he desperately needs every ounce he can keep!! I had a long chat with Beth H. about a month ago and she advised me to get him into a Gastroenterology Specialist as this is not the normal side effects from dialysis!!
And, as for the my "old fart" choppers!! I can not get them to "chop"!! I can put them in and take them out with great ease. I can't say they even bother me all that much as I can almost forget they are even in place, except I can not eat with them whatsoever!! And, Max thought he was hungry for steaks on the grill tonight!! He came home all excited this morning, that these steaks really looked good to him at the store and since we had a lovely, and only slightly cool, day today he would grill them outside!! All I could think was "oh, goodie"!! Mi ate really well tonight!! You know these darn things did not come with one word of instructions!! I do not normally like to read instructions, but I truly think I would have read and re-read these, until I finally "got it"!! Do not think I ever seen an "Oprah" or "Dr. Phil" show where the topic was "how to eat with dentures!! But, I have a whole new day to begin over tomorrow with possibly "oatmeal" for breakfast, lunch and dinner!!
I think I am going to have to use my "Amid Amish" for dust cloths!! But, this evening is just another time for a chance, or another chance, to have the lucky "Milkbone" grabbed!!
Love and Hugs!!
Deborah

Well, I do not have much exciting news or any new stitches to post this evening!! Mi is still totally "lividly mad" at us today as her "separation anxiety" always converts to "totally POed" at us by the following day!! So, she has nothing to say tonight either, except "somebody move that Panic Button down where she can paw it and have some company within moments usually"!!

I have had it with the VA!! I will sum it up one day soon when we hear from them again!! My well thought out view as of today is going to stick at "what can they do to me"!! I will play and be nice to them!! Personally, along with Eunice, we do not believe Max has even a slim chance of getting back on the National Donor Transplant List, but I never give up on prayer and miracles!! And, this is in spite of Max's disappearing every chance he could get to go outside and "sneak" (c'mon Max) one cigarette after another right in front of the building we were camped out in for the entire day!! Some one has kept him ticking since the dismal prediction of "possibly six months life expectancy" we heard on August 15, 2005!! My view and plan will stick with "what can they do to me"!! Should Max be given a kidney and/or a liver transplant, which he is definitely so badly in need of I surely will be there front and center!! And, until I see Max
being able to fend for him self, I will consider the "Heartland Inn" as my new home away from home!! However, as soon as Max can hold the television remote, I will replace it's batteries so they are fresh and new and say "Bye, bye Maxwell, see you in a couple days for an afternoon's visit"!! Now, just what is that darn V.A. going to do to keep me at that hospital the 3-6 weeks they have told me I ABSOLUTELY HAVE to prepare for staying at the Heartland Inn alone and then at least another three weeks at the Heartland Inn with Max with me? Hand cuff me to the hospital bed, lock the tires of my wheelchair or perhaps disable the battery? Will they try to charge me with a criminal act, as they did Max when he "Deborah-napped" me out of that "hellhole" Nursing Home I had been placed in, and then, I too, will have a police RAP Sheet? NOT!!
Max has no friends and no relatives, but me!! And, he does not want me sitting day in and day out with him!! He never has wanted this while he was hospitalized, even when I had the use of my legs!! Max is, and always has been, a loner!! And, believe me, he is set in his ways about this and wants to be alone!!

If placed on the north side of our local hospital in a room, you can actually see our home located two blocks away!! There has been many nights that Max slept on the floor with about a two-inch layer of foam rubber under him and if lucky a sheet, blanket and pillow a nurse may find for him!! When I am really bad, Max will simply not leave the hospital for any thing even though it is a two minute commute!! While I laid 120 miles away from our home on full life support Max drove the entire 120 miles up each, and every, morning at first sun rise and returned after he made sure I was settled down for the rest of each evening!! My "Mommy Dearest" was at her regular best when there is crisis and/or tragedy in our family!! She would watch Mi, but Max HAD to return each evening to walk Mi so there would NEVER be any "droppings" in her yard or God forbid on Mi's inside "Piddle Pads"!! And, she had to have dinner brought to her from her choice of the day!! And, Max had to make sure all her garbage was gathered up and taken home with him to our large private "garbage tote"!! Once or twice, she did agree to come visit me with Max and she also did come with him on Thanksgiving Day and agreed to have Thanksgiving dinner brought up to her and ate with Max and I in my room!! Max was so tired by the end of that six weeks of horrific array of different crises that continued to happen the entire time I was there!! Our home had even been robbed during this time and Max did not even notice it had occurred!!

But, when it comes to be his turn to be the one hospitalized he does not want and is adamant about my staying at home!! He says he is more upset about thinking about every thing that could happen to me in the coming and returning home than joy and peace he has from my visits to see him!!

But, as "MoM Eunice" has taught me so many times in the past few years, we will deal with what ever happens when, and if, it does!! So, I am also turning this one over to the Lord to decide what I need to do when the time comes!!

Thus, I will share the wondrous things the United States Postal System brought to me today!! I am not quite sure where the pictures will end up, but I will describe what they are, where ever they may end up on this!!

Hopefully, we will be having one big "HAPPY ROLL" down my yet to be tried new handicap ramp!! Unless, really unforeseen problems pop up, I am planning on this weekend as being my first Cross Stitch finish for 2009!! And, need BIG "HAPPY ROLL" especially as it will be my first 32-Count Linen since my life took such drastic changes!! The delivery man said my Hoveround is capable of doing 40 MPH when opened up!!

Perhaps, that would be even a greater thrill, than the actual "HAPPY DANCE"!!
I live on a hill!! On my 50th birthday I had my usual opening "Summer Singles' Bash" for Memorial Day weekend!! Max and I were separated during those years also!! I belonged to the local "Singles' Club" and my best friend, Patty, and I attended all the surrounding towns "Singles' Clubs" activities!! But, every Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day the parties for all the combined clubs, minimum of 125 people, were at my home!! We had a Volleyball League that played every Thursday evening in the various different cities and Patty and I co-captained our local group's team!! Well, the first year we played around my six foot privacy fence, huge vegetable garden, pool and pool house!! During that summer I decided the fence, garden, pool house all had to go and it did. The fence is stalls in a horse barn some where in Illinois!! The pool house is a tool shed about ten blocks away from here!! The pool went the following year as we played more volleyball than did we get a little moonlight swim and wine in the pool!! The guys finally put in large steel poles, bought an official size net and always showed up to mark the court's boundary during wee hours of game day!! We were complete idiots that were blessed to have two EMT Paramedics among us!! But, we had such fun summers!!

After struggling to fight Patty's cervical cancer for ten months with only her fiance', my fiance' and my self caring for her, she lost her battle seven months before the next Memorial Day weekend which also happened to be my 50th birthday!! I did not even feel like I could continue to hostess our summers any longer, but an "angel" kicked my butt and made me continue on as usual!! All the Groups were doing their utmost best to try and help me get through it!! They got together and planned to have each Group bring a fully decorated wheelchair to celebrate my "going over the line of 49"!! They were holding a contest to see which Group could bring the best decorated chair!! So, the decorating committee simply lined my full drive with decorated wheelchairs as they arrived and different people were assigned to keep me out of driveway view!! It was a great surprise and very funny sight!! However, one thing led to another, and it was decided that we should form teams to take the wheelchairs to the top of my hill and race in them to the bottom of the hill and decide winner of the hill!! My neighbors soon began lining my curbside to view the races in their folding lawn chairs!! Granny Lou still talks about her husband, Jim, who passed about eight years ago!! She said he called her to their window and asked what was flying off the hillside!! Granny Lou said she remembers telling him she thought it was a wheelchair!! I had never had the great "pleasure" of sitting in a wheelchair at that time in my life!! I am going to have to try to reconnect with some of those "younger" fellows from the Groups and see if any one is game for trying out the Hoveround and see just how fast it actually can go!!

Max usually gets me a big bouquet of flowers to celebrate a "finish"!! But, a "linen finish"!! This has to be an extraordinary "Happy Dance" substitution!!

Well, on to the pretty pictures of newest "HOPS" - Hope Of Possible Start -, as I get very few ever finished any more!! But, as many of my nearest and dearest friends have told me it simply does not matter if I ever have another finish and if I start some thing new each day BECAUSE I THOROUGHLY ENJOY EACH, AND EVERY, "X" AND STITCH I DO!!

With no more reminiscing, let's see how close this Blog and I can get to a decent lay out setting up of the pictures!! And, I do intend to incorporate each of these in my newest rotation about to begin soon!!
I HOPE EVERYONE DOES LEAVE A NOTE IF THEY WANT ANOTHER "MILKBONE" CHANCE IN MI'S PICKING THE WINNER OF "AMID AMISH" TWO, POSSIBLY THREE, STITCHED PIECES!!
LOVE AND HUGS,
DEBORAH and MAX
and, MIPREZIOUS, TOO!!

TUESDAY, APRIL 07, 2009 - MY NEEDLE TRULY DOES COMFORT ME

ABOVE, is AMID AMISH, I believe it is called!! It is far too long a story!! This is one of my quite early projects as far as my realizing there was more to the wonderful world of stitching than KITS!! And, my LNS convinced me to take the last of her light blue Aida and that she would get a third piece, that absolutely would match, and all would be well!! Unfortunately, it was not well, as the new stock of light blue Aida was no where even close!! Remember, "close only counts in horseshoes"!!

These two pieces were also unearthed from the two large bins that were found this past weekend!! They are proving to be quite the treasure chests!!

I have only lightly skimmed the Board posts from today, however, it appears this chart, or I should more correctly say "charts", seem to be a big topic of conversation again!!

I do not know what in the world happened to the third section, but I do know I finished it and it does exist as far as my best guess goes. I have no idea where it possibly could be!! I even am questioning, that being consistently reminded I had an awful temper in my earlier days, if it will be found in one big piece or several smaller ones!! These two sections "scanned", as I am in no mood to attempt photo tonight, are finished in perfect condition. They could be finished in some way and feasibly used!! BUT, not in my home as I do not want to be reminded of the anger attached to these pieces for me!!

THUS, I have previously promised the three magazines the charts came from to another member of this Group a couple of weeks ago!! As soon as I finish going through my magazine archives these three magazines have a new home!!

HOWEVER, these two pieces WILL BE HOMELESS within the next few weeks of my clearing out my clutter!! Now, some one else may feel different seeing these two pieces and may wish to "ADOPT" them!! I suppose the only fair way to do this is BEG some one to take them!! HOWEVER, if more than one person has the perfect place for these we will leave Miprezious draw a "Milkbone" with a name attached to it!! Since, every one will remember IRS DAY, on APRIL 15, 2009, Mi will accumulate "Milkbones" until 8:00 p.m. that evening!! Any one having the perfect place for these may tell us about it on this Blog any, and/or all, day/days until the deadline. Each evening, I will take people's names from that day's Blog and attach them to a "Milkbone"!! So, enter once or each day there is a Blog, just to make things interesting and see which of us is truly the most bored to check each day until 8:00 P.M., WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15, 2009!!

PLEASE DO TAKE NOTE, this drawing is JUST FOR THESE TWO, POSSIBLY A THIRD, STITCHED PIECES, unfinished and are!! And, the CHARTS HAVE BEEN SPOKEN FOR !!

ABOVE, is a LIZZIE KATE chart, "WORK, PRAY, TRUST"!! I was frantically trying to put some thing together that could handle the usual state of disarray found all the time at the Veterans Administration Hospital adjoining the University of Iowa Hospitals!!
Stating the "Waiting Rooms" are unclean is being quite kind!!
I think it would be an extra special "Thank You" momento for the Minister who originated my brand new handicap ramp and the fund raiser for me to pay to make my home as safe as his church group could possibly make it!! The handicap ramp alone building material's were between $2,500-$3,000!! And, due to the short length of ground available for the pitch in the existing doorways it finally took a paid Contractor to do most of the planning and building of the ramp!! I do not attend, nor ever have, this particular church!! I do not even know how the entire project originated for me!! Thus, I would like to give this Minister some kind of stitched piece done by me!! Since every one is pretty much aware of my non-existant speed rate yet of my stitching I knew I had to keep the chart quite simple.
I have never attempted to stitch in my van before, with the exception of plastic canvas. I thought I would at least give my stitching an attempt on the way out to Iowa City to try and keep my mind clear and not centered on the excruciating pain I have while traveling any distance!! It was vital I try to take on only the very minimum of morphine until we were again on our way home!!
Well, my plan sure worked well!! I only had FOUR stitches in when we came upon the Interstate exit straight into the hospital. Eunice did make the trip with us strictly to assist me!! Max and her still have a very long way to go before they will resume the same level of friendship, if it ever can be achieved again!! At this rate, I will convince myself I have real speed built up again while stitching from my "stitching nest"!! But, as I am always quick to say, "I am truly blessed to be stitching, so no complaints from me"!!
And, during our one continous "hurry up and waits" I did get a bit done on this!!
Any ideas for a super extraordinary finish to make this gift truly awesome?
As for today!! It is about 2:00 a.m. presently!! We began our day at about 4:00 a.m. this morning!! I had to be fed, bathed, morphined, and prepared for our day straight from "Hell"!! Hope, the word "Hell" does not offend any one as I am extremely tired, unable to even rest, thoroughly disgusted with the way we treat all our men and women Veterans, most very fed up and repulsed by the way the VA medical community acts like they are superior to every one else as they have M.D. or even R.N. after their names and am personally in some of the most excruciating pain I have ever been in thus far in my entire seven years of having this illness!! I believe we rolled into our home driveway about 9:00 p.m. We did stop at a Perkins Restaurant just before you get back on the Interstate for the almost two hour drive back home. I was so physically and mentally exhausted that I literally was leaning over my dinner sleeping on two different times that Eunice and/or Max caught me!! I got back in the van, and attempted to start to stitch again, however, I was loosing the daylight quite quickly!! Eunice also took my needle away the second time she found me slumped over the board I use to steady my hands while stitching as she said it was a serious accident just waiting to happen!! And, always true to form, since Mi was left home those two weeks during my surgery in September where Granny Lou and Eunice's husband, Marion, both took turns in coming in to sit with Mi and feed her and/or just visit her several times each day and evening Mi has had the most severe "separation anxiety" you can imagine!! She gets herself so worked up that she vomits yellow foam all over our home!! Max must have spent a good hour spot cleaning all the carpets once again, while I held her swadled in a blanket and talked her down from her just terrorized state!!
I have no idea of what happened, as we did leave in plenty of time, but we arrived in "the city" fifteen minutes late!! If you are not in a parking space by 8:00 a.m. at this VA facility you are simply in a world of troubles!! I would venture to bet most Wal-Marts, and even most simple local grocery stores have more parking spots than this major VA hospital!! It faces a major highway that has nothing, but a deep ravine on the other side of it. You either get on the lot and luck out finding a spot to park or you circle, some times for hours!!
Eunice and I had discussed her need to stay with me prior to this morning. I told her unless she was prepared to get "sucked in" to what was sure to be quite some serious drama that she should just drop us at the hospital entrance and drive on to a brand new gambling casino she adores about 20-30 minutes further than the hospital!! And, besides there was no parking as usual!!
Max and I got into the hospital and I was quite shocked to see Max stop at the Information Desk and actually ask for directions as to where we were first to go. This jolly man, who just volunteers his time there, told us we should have turned into Coralville!! I told him "very funny, but afraid we are running a bit late, and could he just give us the most direct instructions for getting to where we needed to be"!! When I observed him writing down directions and showing Max a map, I suddenly got the sinking feeling he was not trying to be funny any longer!! I immediately got on my cell phone, which I do not know how to operate whatsoever and attempted to call Eunice to turn around, hopefully, before she had gotten back on the Interstate which would have taken quite some time for her to find the next exit and work her way back to us!!
Well, I dialed correctly, but did not place the "blue tooth" on my ear, so I could hear absolutly nothing!!
Well, the Psychiatrists/Psychologists had been moved out of the hospital and over into adjoining town of Corralville two weeks prior to this day!! Thankfully, Eunice knows enough about me and all "electronics" that she simply turned around right where she was at that time as she simply knew there had to be having troubles of some kind for me to call her this quickly!!
Eunice arrived back at the VA Hospital in about ten minutes and we again transferred me and away we went to find "Corralville"!! We did find it within about 12 minutes, but by now we are running a good 45 minutes late!! The three of us were all livid, that no one thought about sending any information about this change or even said any thing yesterday when they made the "reminder of appointment" phone call yesterday!!
Upon arriving at the "Corralville Annex" Eunice told Max to go on ahead and inform some one we were there and she would get my wheelchair out and transfer me and then she would bring me inside the "Annex" herself!! And, she did, and she had much to say to these two receptionists!! Eunice had taken Max's cell phone and attempted to call this "Annex" at the number which was on Max's telephone list of calls received from yesterday, but got no answer!! And, these receptionists did confirm Eunice had the right telephone number, but had no reason as to why the phone had not been answered!! These receptionists assured Eunice the appropriate doctors would be notified that we we had arrived and she was free to go back to her errands as I would be watched by them if necessary!!
We were to each see three different psychiatrists before 2:00 p.m. to evaluate whether I could be considered as Max's "Support Person"!! I had told every one, and I believe even mentioned on here, that this day would be nothing more than a "set-up" fiasco to make my physical limitations and me be the "fall person" for the VA to get out of paying one million dollars for a donor transplant for Max!! The VA does not have that kind of budget to spend on one "lowly" Vietnam Veteran!! And, that is truly what the entire purpose of this "three-ring" circus act was today!!
I was prepared for this agenda and I made it quite clear almost immediately that these three all wise and wonderful Psychiatrists had never prior, nor probably ever will again meet another woman as headstrong and independent as I am!! Every question was met with the same answer of "I am a survivor and I have survived far worse situations that what we were facing with Max receiving a transplant and that any thing needed could and would be done"!! They quite frankly soon began looking at each other for one of the others to take over and try to strike the same questions over simply just phrased differently in an attempt to get a different reply from me, which did not come from my mouth whatsoever!! At one point, they went into "whispers" and "notes to each other" and asked if I would mind taking a short lunch break and we would restart after this!! I told them that was perfectly fine with me, but that my mind would not be changed, regardless of any reason or method of same questions asked yet another way in some kind of other words!! Oh, how I wanted to add that this would also include "Pig Latin", but I stayed the sweet and pig-headed woman I can so often be!!
Next question, where in this wonderful new facility would a cafeteria or lunch deli or shop be located!! Oh, well there was not even a place really to even get a cup of coffee!! Did we not have transportation or had the hospital van brought us over to the "Annex"!! No, our van had brought us there, but it was away on other business!! Well, we could go up a block and turn right and there was a coffee shop!! As the agenda was written, we had 20 minutes prior to the next round of "fun and games"!! Max was absolutely beside himself that we could not go that far with me in the wheelchair, have some thing to eat and be returned to the "Annex" in time!! I told Max that "agenda" was "null and void" by 8:30 a.m. earlier in this day, had he not already noticed!! So, I insisted we go to the "Coffee Shop" simply to have a private place to trade notes on what Max had told way too much information about and what his general take on this entire interviewing process was? I also asked about the possibility of his lying to the "good shrinks", as now I would have to swear to them all!! Well, he "Never said a single word that was not true"!! Oh, how I do know that man after thirty years!! This is even a real good chuckle to a good many of you, "Max, has NEVER missed a single dose of his medications or ever taken any drugs except which had been precisely prescribed for him"!! Okay, left me wide open Max when I got questioned about Max's "anger and agression" during his bi-polar incidents AND any and all details I knew regarding Max's two hospitalizations for overdosing himself on Morphine, a drug which has NEVER been prescribed for him before!!
Right after lunch, the inquisition restarted on me again!! Well, Max indicated that a Eunice, who was a Caretaker for me, would also be a "Support Person" for me, being I was Max's "Support Person" for the Transplant and that Eunice would be required to attend the week's training session we have to present our selves for right after Max is accepted into the VA Transplant Program!! I simply replied, that Max and I had no other relatives, nor did he have any other friends who would be willing to act as the "Support Person" or the "Support Person for the Support Person"!! They at least got an "E" for effort in trying to confuse me, but I kept on top of my Plan to the very letter!! I would see that Max was taken care of regardless of what this required!! I was a Survivor and I would go into "Survivor Mode" if necessary, but I could and would do any thing required of me!! Finally, they agreed I was a very determined woman who was able to describe to them every thing that would be required of me with the exception of one thing!! And, even this, I did not give them, but merely was adamant it would be no problem whatsoever!! I will be required to to out to Iowa City with Max the week prior to his getting near the top of the Donor List and we would be required to stay at a hotel quite a ways across town from the hospital until we got "the call" since we live so far from Iowa City!! As soon as "the call" comes, I would then have to commute, all on my own, to and from this hotel, any where from a minimum of three weeks and more than likely with Max's many other medical complications, it would be more likely like six weeks totally alone!! The hospital will pay for the motel costs, but will not pay for food or any thing else!! I was very surprised that the motel would be paid for!! Then, after Max was discharged from the hospital, we would be required to go stay at this same hotel for another minimum of three weeks and up to again six weeks with Max with me providing he did not have any complications!! There is no way in "Hell" that I can be away from my home for a solid thirteen weeks or more, with most of this time being totally alone!! But, I swore to them it would be NO problem!!
I mean what are they going to do to me? Tie me to the visitor's chair or lock my wheelchair to some fixed object?!! I do not think so!! And, what are they going to do to Max if I do not stay with him every single day after the surgery is completed? Do they think they can take back the kidney and/or liver? I highly do not think so!! So, "Of course, I can stay as long as required doctors!! What in the world would I possibly need to get home for during all that time?"
We did go from there to "agility and memory" testing!!
I told them that I was quite capable of playing building blocks with Max if he wanted to do so while recuperating and I did not need, nor would I prove it to any of them, that I could!! It was absolutely ridiculous!!
As for memory, was this going to be an "Open Book" test? I pulled out my hospital discharge orders from my last surgery which are always part of my purse contents!! Do they not issue the same type of "Discharge Instructions" from this VA Hospital as they seem to do from every other hospital I have ever seen?
Well, yes they did!! Well, if they wanted to prove to me where my entire four page list was not followed to the very letter, than why would they think I could not do the same for Max's discharge plans? Touche, Mrs. Markham!! Good, now can we go home finally? Well, no Max had about another hour's worth of building blocks and repeating back stories they told him and then he was to retell them back to them!! Okie Dokie!!
I then got out my "blue tooth" and cell phone and called Eunice to see where she was at, was she winning and would she like to come back and sit with me until Max was finally released? Well, Eunice had come back and was simply sitting and working cross word puzzles in our van for the previous hour waiting for us!! So, she asked if she should come in and get me and I told her that it was truly not necessary, but after three attempts of trying to line my wheelchair up door a very small entry onto an elevator three unsuccessful times, a very nice man stepped up behind me and wanted to know if it was okay to push my wheelchair from the back of me!! I told him that would be just very nice of him if he was willing to do so!! He took me all the way to the van and helped transfer into the van and placed the wheelchair back into the van for Eunice and I also!! There was at least one very nice man in that "Annex" after all!!
And, here is where I yawn off for this evening, but will continue tomorrow morning!!
Love and Hugs!!
Deborah

MONDAY, APRIL 05, 2009 - NEW UPDATE!

This is my Stitcher Traveling project!! My first 32-Count Linen ever since restarting my stitching after all the accident injuries, freaky disease I got from the injuries and stroke!! I have beautiful pieces done on my walls, but had no idea they were mine until Max showed me where I always sign and date each of my projects!! This is going to be among my most prized possessions!! I believe I have two chimneys I just noticed, more words and bottom zig zag and IT WILL BE A FINISH!!

AND, I am still saying "What in the world is this? It is large enough to cover a card table with the start of what seems to be a beautiful verse of some kind!! I don't remember it, nor can Max help me on this one!!

Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 06, is a most important appointment at the University of Iowa concerning Max's being placed back on the National Donor Transplant List!! Please offer much prayers up this day, as this trip is basically to evaluate me to see if I can be his "Support Person"!! In one hour, hopefully one of the Caregivers will come and help Max get me ready to go!! I need to be maximum dosed morphine as two hours in the van will be nothing short of excruciating!! We have to be on the road by 6:00 a.m.!! Then, beginning at 8:00 p.m. I and/or Max will be evaluated by three psychiatrists and three psychologists to see if we both can "handle" the prospect of his liver and kidney transplant!! This is not good!! I am already well into a "Flare-Up" and this is truly going to escalate it!! These A$$E$ at the University of Iowa do not care as being the "support person" I have to be available in minutes notice to make a flying trip out to University of Iowa, fully prepared to stay about six weeks and survive!! I am going to be needing additional morphine every 3-4 hours all day and the more morphine I get the "foggy" and tired I become!! I am capable of falling asleep in mid sentence!! Then, we get a break for lunch!! Then, at 2:00 p.m. I have to go through "agility and memory" tests that last two hours!! This is utterly impossible on an ideal day even!! My beloved Eunice is going for me as she and Max are not getting along again!! He will never learn, even when it could mean the difference of him dying the horrible death he is presently from end state liver and kidney diseases or possibly pull off a transplant with Eunice either backing me fully and/or taking my place!! I can't remember what I have had for breakfast most mornings!! It is going to be one of the hardest and worst days for us all, but my RSD could very well turn totally unbearable and I could very likely bet back to town to be placed in the local hospital as this could truly do me major harm!! But, University just says, "get another person" or else show up with me!! Max has absolutely no one else!! These A$$E$ will not even give us a postponement until perhaps I would be a bit better!! They have spent thousands of dollars, hundreds of thousands on this pre-screening process and I am sure excluded Max from continuing on in his pursuit of just getting on the National List, but they need the "fall guy" and they are trying to make me it!! They have come up with nothing new!! Max had the aneurysmn and lost his entire family to them, but they have done nothing!! He is 65 years old!! He refuses to give up his smoking. He is a cancer of prostrate survivor!! He is actively in end stage liver and renal failures on every other day dialysis!! He has been committed too many times to Mental Health facilities because of his bi-polar manic depression going so bad!!

And, now they can say he does not have an appropriate "support person" after tomorrow and then sooner or later get around to we are sorry to have to tell you..........

NO, Mr. Markham!!

Please all pray real hard that I can just get throught this horrendous day and that I can come back to my own home tomorrow evening to recuperate!! Eunice is insisting on going with me and will try to take care of me, but there is only so much she can do!!

I will try to post when we arrive back tomorrow night!!

Love and Hugs!!

SUNDAY, APRIL 05, 2009 - TIP OF THE ICE BERG!!

These pictures are horrible, as usual, at least I did not take them!! But, can not say I could do any better. I spent most of yesterday and a great deal of time today preparing the way for the newly found bins of fabric to have a shelf as it's new home!! What a job!! Then, I next began laying each piece out on my ironing board, was not sure if I still actually had one, and pressing it flat again!! I found the most wonderful large piece of white with gold fleck fabric that had been very carefully gridded out with basting every two holes across and down in grids of ten by ten!! Something had to be planned, but nothing I could think of!! Max says he remembers me well spending a week to ten days just gridding this fabric!! But, neither of us had a clue as for what so I am taking the basting stitces out in hopes that his beautiful fabric can have a new life with some thing else!! Then, there is a piece with a label called "Cadet Blue, but I would call it a very deep teal. It has some beautiful lettering which I have no idea of what it is or was meant to be, nor does Max!!
Although these two pictures are of the same table top full, it does not begin to show the beauty of the opalescent white and light blue and the other wonderful over dyes!! Lots of beautiful colors!!
And, lots and lots and lots more to unfold, try to figure out it's history and how it got in these bins!! And, Wanda has not even been able to stop yet and bring the bin downstairs up yet!!
It things like this that just peak my wondering what else I have forgotten!! I don't know if I want to know or not!!
My mind is clear as ever on many of my childhood times, but I have no memory whatsoever of my first big church wedding on Valentines Day, 1969!! A friend reminded my the other day, about that wedding!! I was very tall and a size 0!! And, at the time, mini dress lengths were quite in style. However, as my friend reminded me, I had one of the most beautiful wedding gowns ever, however, it was mini in length. She told me of my grandmother having every thing, but a stroke the afternoon of my wedding!! It was an evening ceremony. My grandmother got ahold of that gown and spent the afternoon "redesigning" it for all she was worth as I "could not walk down that aisle in such a dress"!! That old woman let out all the silk underlay she could budge out!! The dress was designed to have about two inches of chantel lace overhanging the silk that morning!! Nothing else she could tell me even brought back so much as a spark!!
And, then I discovered myself a few months ago, I have no recollection of even being at my father's wake and funeral in 1991!! I have forgotten almost every thing, except that it happened of my ovarian cancer in 1992!!
Present things are sort of "hit and miss"!! Given enough information to spark any brain cells will usually bring back many things, but then others are gone!!
Eerie and very strange feelings!! Just wonder what else "that room" is going to reveal or not reveal!! All this makes me truly want to get downstars again!! Well, at least that will not be for awhile until this present RSD flare-up subsides a bit!! But, this does give me new incentive to dig deeper in "that room" and get it done PERFECT once and for all!!
I had wanted to get up this morning and got to Palm Sunday services!! However, last night Max started out with too cold of temperatures to expecting a full fledged blizzard with an occasional earthquake, flood and tornados!! Bottom line, Max was NOT wanting to attend Palm Sunday services!! He finally offered to get me new palms for my home IF I did not continue on insisting to go!! Well, this was finally some thing, I could live with and finally agreed!! However, Max some how "forgot" to stop by the church to pick up some palms so he can just do it tomorrow!! And, if not tomorrow, I may get the urge to attend Holy Thursday and Good Friday's services!! I think this will be enough of a reminder for him!! He usually does not mind taking me to church, but he sure does not like Palm Sunday!! And, if he had just not been trying to hard, I would have told him hours earlier that I simply was not feeling well enough to get up and go to church at all myself!!
We truly did have a "nasty" wet cold for weather today with an occasional snow flurry!! Mi insisted on being dressed in her little "hoodie" again, but immediately upon seeing the new deck and ramp she changed her mind about going outside. However, she got carried across the deck and down the steps and did play for a few minutes in her play yard!! Then, she got carried back up the steps, but was made to walk across the deck to get to me inside the front door!! Max thinks if he just keeps taking her out daily she will get used to the newness of it all!! My bet, would be Max better get use to carrying little Mi across the deck and down and up the stairs!!
Well, I am off to do another bit on "Stitcher Traveling"!!
I truly feel I may finally have a finish coming up real soon!!
Love and Hugs!!

FRIDAY, APRIL 03, 2009 - I FOUND A GOLD MINE!!

Well, little Mi is "officially" off-duty and she took advantage of our "kind of" nice day today!! She got her "pink" little "ho0die" fleece jacket on with "Princess" monogrammed on the back, just in case some one new approached and did not recognize her!! I did not take this picture, but so wished I did at least try, as the look on her face was just precious!! The camera and I are actually getting on much better lately!! Mi is scared to death of the new ramp and decking!! She will not set one foot out on it!! In fact, she came to the threshold of the front door today and did a run (which she does not do often) for the kitchen and under the table!! Max had to go after her and carry her all the way out, down the stairs and place her in the yard!!

I had a pretty good day today as Eunice has talked me into just using the fast-acting type of Morphine for the duration of the RSD flare-up!! After all this time, it feels like it is never going to stop!! Thus, I could get up and move about a bit more today!! Doctor told me yesterday he could place me back in hospital any time I wanted to "give it up"!! Not in my vocabulary!! NOT!!

My mail came and I had a nice package from House of Stitches. I got the rest of the Lizzie Kate Boo Club Flip It series, January and March Blackbird Design Monthly Stocking Series as I already have February!! And, of course, my Just Another Button Company May's Teacup Series with the Banana Popsicle bright yellow fabric with 7 of the most incredibly expensive buttons yet!! So, I was a happy "camper" and all was really fine!!

Well, just before the mail came, I was chatting with Kathy, as we do most afternoons at 2:30 p.m.!! We both were a bit "blue". I do not know if Max axed my best caregiver, Wanda, or not!! And, my dear Therapist and Ms. Etiquette, both crucial in my life, a.k.a. Kathy was directing me on what I should do next!! And, dear Kathy is hitting that time of each month!! No, I wish it would be as easy as "cramping" as she would get over that eventually!! Kathy was having those "blues" as it will be almost four months since her mother passed who I could not have respected and loved more if she had been my mother, too!! This monthly takes a life time to get past!! However, we were reminiscing, and Kathy was telling me how her mother loved pansies!! I had several pansy charts, which I can put my little hands on almost any chart now instantly now that I am organized, and I pulled some off and scanned pictures of what I had available while we continued to chat!! Kathy said that one of my charts called simply "Four Pansies" had the most perfect of pansy on it!! I told her I would have it in the mail before night fell tonight!! But, then I opened it, as Kathy wanted to know just how big these charts were.
I was absolutely shocked to open the chart and find the entire chart all highlighted in "yellow"!!

I told Kathy I could not believe what I was seeing. Now, Kathy knows me, better than I know myself, during a large amount of time!! She can recall just about every thing I have forgotten since she began calling me, while I was still just uttering "babble" in that "hellhole" Nursing Home I was placed in late 2006!! But, unfortunately, I am on my own for the greater part of time previous to then!!

I was having a real "spark" connecting those few brain cells!! I simply could not believe it!! I finally asked Kathy did she want the chart or the stitched and finished pansies already done!! I think she wanted to ask "just how much morphine I had today", but instead she just wanted to know what I had done with them!! I just suddenly remembered they were in a stack of WIPS and UFOS most likely, and I thought I knew were they were located.

So, then I made Max take me into "that room" (our affectionate name for catch-all POS)!! I could not get too far in it as I have never been able to as it is a sharp 45 degree turn off a very small hallway!! I finally had Max drag out a big plastic bin that was about 18" deep and a bit over two or three feet long!! Max opened that bin and I thought "GOOD LORD, do I have that many WIPS and UFOS"!! Well, the good news was no I did not, but the better news was as Max said, "What do you mean you do not have any white fabric? How much do you need in the next ten lifetimes?"!! Then, Wanda called and she asked me if I did not remember another plastic bin, about the same size that is still in the lower level of this home. Spark smoldered, I knew nothing!!
Wanda informed me I have yet another bin the same size that is filled with about half used and half unused fabric in the second bin. She said she would be over tomorrow to drag it upstairs to me!! I guess I will be getting up to clear some more shelves!! I am so excited and anxious to see what is actually stitched and in the bin!! My UFOS AND WIPS count may break all records known, but I am willing to take the chance and see!!

I had a very small town paper do an article on my stitching from long, long ago some years back. I had found a book of charts and each page had a beautiful quilt square with very special Bible verse and some thing to illustrate it. When put together and made into a quilt, it was a copy of one some one designed in memory of a lady who had passed from cancer. Being I knew nothing about quilting a church ladies group was going to quilt these blocks together and make the same quilt as I donated them to a fundraiser for three young boys all from this same small town who also had cancer. I "think" all the pictures and charts, etc. are also going to be in this other bin for some reason.

BUT, it clearly came to mind this afternoon!! And, then Mi was afraid of MY new ramp that was just built with funds from a fundraiser held for me a few months ago!!
A lot of you know my life philosophy!! But, for those who do not, it is simply this!! If you put out good Karma, good Karma will come back to you!! If you put out bad Karma, bad Karma will come back to you!! Guess this is just another full circle I can add to my Karma!! I would never have remembered this at all without these two bins appearing!!

I truly am fully looking forward to tomorrow my self!!

As for my dear friend, Kathy, let's all say an extra prayer that her Guardian Angels will all stay close and give her as much comfort and help as possible as Kathy plants her mother's new pansies on Sunday!!

Love and Hugs!!

THURSDAY, APRIL 02, 2009 - WE MOVED FOR TWO DAYS!!

THIS IS BICKFORD COTTAGE ASSISTED LIVING!!
OUR CABIN USED TO HAVE MORE ROOM THAN THIS AND IT DID NOT HAVE A WALK-IN SHOWER OR CLOSET!!

Handicap Commode in handicap bathroom. Note the single sink with the single storage area below it!! This is the only storage besides the "walk in" closet in the Master (one and only) Bedroom and in spacious kitchen!! Note the shower curtain directly across from the Commode. This is the entire Bathroom!! The inside of the shower is bigger than the entire bathroom!
This is the walk-in shower directly across from the Comode!! Mommy and Daddy would just had to hoped they could sneak in a few more reservations for the one and only tub than their allowed one per week!! This would have had to been converted to my toy room!!
However, considering that tub had to be "shared" by 37 other people though, I saw my toy room going down that Commode that sits two feet away!!

And, this is the Master Bedroom "Walk-In" Closet, and incidentally the only closet in the entire new home THEY called a "Cottage"!! Camper for one - maybe!! Now, what could we have kept in here? Maybe, Mommy's WIPS, but doubt they all would even fit!! Notice the wall brackets which even eliminated all those big plastic tubs that even hold all my toys as brackets would not allow any thing to be stacked!! This closet measured 5'wide with 4' deep!! The "Cottage" Director assured Mommy they would try to find room to store her beloved pink Xmas tree, Daddy's golf clubs and fishing equipment some where else in the "Cottage", but surely all our other things would fit in this closet!! Mommy's "stash" would have not fit in the main "Cottage" Arts and Crafts Room, much less this closet!!
And, this was the big Picture Window in the Master Bedroom!! It was the only window in the entire new home "Cottage"!! Had our bed fit in this 10' Long and 8' wide "Master Bedroom", I would have least had a good view each morning of all the other old people out sunning their selves!! I did get the run of this beautiful Court Yard as all Mommy had to do was press a button and some body would come and take me out into the Court Yard to visit all the old people!! The "Director" was pretty smart "cookie" as there was absolutely no exit from this Court Yard, not even a little space for me to escape even!! I could do any thing I wanted out in the Court Yard right down to squatting and leaving a "small token" that I had been there, except who ever came to walk me had to be sure I, and the Court Yard, was cleaned up before going back to my little "cottage"!!
Only really good thing was a whole glass wall of pretty birds that also lived there!! I could sit by the hour and tease those birdies and they had no place to hide as their "cottage" was even smaller than our "cottage"!! But, I found those birds to be very entertaining several times!!
Now, this is the 8' wall of the "Master Suite"!! Notice where the sun is shining in from that big window above.
And, do you see that "walk-in" closet door opened fully?
And, if you noticed under that big picture window was the heater/air conditioner that nothing could be set in front of!! Now, we have a queen sized bed and Mommy's oxygen equipment and thus we had to decide on whether we really needed that "walk-in" closet to open so we could access ALL of our possessions and remember "Cottage Director" said nothing could be put up against that picture window with the equipment below it!! Mommy freaked when it was finally decided we simply would have to get "bunk beds"!! At least, who ever had the bottom bunk could reach the string that would call the "aide" to come take me out into the Court Yard to potty!
Now, you are looking at our spacious and lovely kitchen!! That large microwave and refrigerator would just about took care of my supplies, but what was Mom and Dad going to snack on? That is Mommy's purse sitting on the left side of the counter, but the "Director Lady" said she could bring a coffee maker, toaster and all kinds of food keepers for the counter top!! Of course, we ALL were welcomed to go down to the lovely formal dining room for all three of our meals!! Still amazed those two pesky cats and I got invited to every meal, but we did!! The food was absolutely delicious and I always got extra as every one thought I was so cute!! I had already been named the "Cottage Dog" by the end of the first day!! They all loved me, even those two cats, I did not like at all!!
This was the living room's 9" long wall. It was 10' wide!! Lots of room for maybe a couch and chair and television!!
This was the ten foot wide living room wall!! After Mommy saying "not way" to the "Director Lady's" idea of bunk beds, she suggested that we could put the Master Bedroom in the Living Room and the Living Room in the Master Bedroom!! Yes, television in bedroom and only two chairs and an end table in the Living Room!! Only problem was from 8:00 A.M. in the morning until 8:00 P.M. at night you were required to leave the front door of your "cottage" wide open at all times!! The "Director" said this made all the other 37 people feel like our own family as they could drift in and out of our then rearranged Master Bedroom!!
Well, to make a long story short!! The staff and food were OUTSTANDING at the "Cottage"!! The second afternoon, one of the "family" came by and wanted to know if I could go out to play in the Court Yard!! And, Mommy said "if I wanted to I could"!! Hey, just another chance to try and get one of those birdies hiding behind that big glass wall!! I ran with some strange really old person who could not keep up with me!! Well, the "Director" was in having Mommy and Daddy signing papers and wanted her to write them a big fat check!! Suddenly, Mommy remembered I was outside with a stranger and she told Daddy to go out and bring me back right then!! The "Director" had to go out for a moment too!! And, suddenly I heard, Mommy scream "Get her out of this place NOW"!! Daddy and I went running to see what that "Director" had said to Mommy, but no one was with her!! She just told Daddy that she just discovered she could touch both of the Master Bedroom walls with just her arms stretched out from her wheelchair in the middle of the room and that she was about to pass out if those walls kept closing in on her!! Mommy was more upset than I have ever seen her!! Daddy ran Mommy and me to our van and Mommy ordered Daddy just to get us back to our "HOME and RIGHT THEN"!! She told him he could then go back and pick up our suitcases and things as she could not breathe!!
Thus, the Moving Company was cancelled along with the Realtor and every one else. Mommy said, "the last two days and the prior night had done it for her!! She was never leaving our HOME unless they took her out in a box"!!
So, once again, I got off my "rear portion" and posted these pictures and the story of the shortest "camping trip" we ever have taken!!
This was the Bickford Cottage and Mommy says she will never even go back to just visit!! She is out of there and for ever more!!
It was one year ago today that we returned to our HOME!! Mommy promised many people to show these pictures, but you know it was just one of those things she did not quite get to!!
Mommy said, XSGranny Rene, in Vegas, summed this "Cottage" up best!! She said she had motel rooms larger than this!!
So, there you have it!!
Not enough progress with that stitching thing to even bother me with posing for a picture. Look at last night's photo and picture that red house finished!! You got it!!
No need for another picture!! Probably would have been more, but as always Mommy went to sleep most of the time she was in "stitching nest" with all those "nasty" lights on!!
Well, Mommy better be recuperated enough to take over this darn Blog!! I am wasting good bone time here!!
Puppy Licks and Tail Wagging,
